Commissioning of the concentrator commenced in December 2008 with the energisation of equipment in the crushing area. By the end of January 2009 wet commissioning will be completed in all areas of the plant.
Ore commissioning is planned to commence in early February with ramp up of the concentrator to follow shortly after.
GRES have also been involved in developing the asset management plan for the concentrator which involves developing the maintenance procedures and schedules required to inspect and maintain the concentrator over its lifetime. As part of the asset management plan GRES have been able to make recommendations on spares holdings and also develop the probable maintenance costs on a year by year basis for maintaining the assets on the site.
Work remains on schedule to handover the concentrator to Western Areas in February 2009.
