Gold Ridge Project

Scope of Work

After the completion of extensive feasibility works, GR Engineering was awarded a design and construct contract by Gold Ridge Mining Limited to refurbish and upgrade the Gold Ridge gold processing plant. The original 2 Mtpa capacity Gold Ridge processing facilities and its extensive project infrastructure were designed and constructed by JR Engineering Services in 1997/98. After 22 months of operation, mining operations were abandoned because of civil unrest in Guadalcanal. The mine and associated processing facilities remained idle until Gold Ridge Mining commenced site activities in 2009.

Project works consisted of the replacement of most piping, electrical and building infrastructure on the site. Plant performance was also upgraded by the addition of new leaching capacity, the addition of a tailings thickener and tailings cyanide destruction plant. Project works were successfully completed on schedule and within Gold Ridge Mining’s budget for the works.
